This beautiful classical 500 square yard house design in DHA, Lahore, on a corner plot. The front elevation is divided into multiple volumes, each adorned with elements from classical architecture.

The central arch over the wooden entrance door is the focal point of this elevation. Doric pilasters frame the openings, while Doric columns support the central arches on both sides of the elevation. Decorative moldings, entablatures and the use of grooves on all the walls may have been overwhelming, if it wasn’t balanced with the use of plain white paint over all the exterior. Windows are also kept simple in white pvc. Black wrought iron railings on balconies and over the sunken area provides a contrast with rest of the elevation design.

Layout

This 500 square yard house design is built on a 50×90 plot and has three levels; basement, ground and first floor. The mumty is also provided to access the rooftop. Since this is a corner plot, there are two car porches and four cars can be easily accommodated. On the ground floor, a grand entrance foyer opens into the stair lobby, which leads to a huge living room cum dining hall facing the lawn. There is a spacious powder room. The stair lobby leads to the heart of this house, an open beautiful kitchen. There is a service kitchen and laundry area adjacent to it. There are two bedrooms with walk in closets and attached bathrooms at the back.

Two service staircases from the rear of this house give access to the basement and the first floor.

Coming to the basement, there is a 2.5 ft wide sunken area all around the basement. There is drawing room in the front, easily accessed from the stair lobby, the lift or an extra staircase coming from the side passage. There is a central living room connected to the bedrooms with walk in closets and attached baths. A spacious servant room with attached bath, kitchen and storage can also be accessed from the rear service staircase.

The first floor has the master bedroom with walk in closet, and attached bath. The most amazing thing about this bedroom is that it enjoys different views on all three sides. There is balcony on two sides facing the road, and BBQ area on the other side. Even the terrace over the car porch can also be accessed through the master bathroom at the front.

The central, spacious living room has a beautiful view towards the BBQ area. There is a lobby which links two rear bedrooms and an ample storage space to the living room. There is an additional low height terrace over the car porch at the back, which can be used for landscaping to enhance the overall appearance of this 500 square yard house exterior.
